RUSSELL (Hubley), Nora Helen - December 14, 1916 - December 12, 2011. Nora, a survivor of the Halifax Explosion, passed away surrounded by her family in Lakeview. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. She dedicated her entire life to her family. Her last thoughts were of her family and her final words were "that she loves us all equally and we are all special". Nanny, as she was known lovingly by many, grew up in the roaring 20s. Some of her fondest memories of her childhood were of spending time with her "Grandmare" and "Grandpare" in Chezzetcook. She married and started her family in the 30s and saw her husband off to war. She lived through many happy and sad times, and always remained the center of her family with humour and quick wit. She will be remembered for the strong, vibrant woman she was. An ideal role model for anyone who knew her, she was truly kind, and always put her family and friends first. Nora was predeceased by her loving husband of 46 years, Carl Parker Russell on January 8th, 1981; son, Donald Douglas Russell on October 12th, 2008; beloved daughter-in-law, Marie Russell; two children in infancy and grandchildren, Michael and Loretta. She is survived and will be dearly missed by her children, Carl (Edith), Parker, Gail, Edward, Leland (Sue), Vernon, Ian (Marie), Lynda and Joan (Rick); grandchildren, great-grandchildren and countless other extended family members and lifelong friends. The family wishes to express special thanks to her granddaughters, Karen and Kathy for their loving attention and special care. Nora will be missed by all.
